THE GREATEST HAT? EVER? MAYBE...

THE GREATEST HAT?

By Corey Allen

Many claim to have the greatest thing since sliced bread. Yes I took you there. Can you really believe that sliced bread was once considered one of the greatest things ever? Ha! It was, but it was only considered the greatest thing ever because it made it easy to have a balanced sandwich and bread cut to perfection. Fast forward in time and everyone calls everything the greatest. Greatest Song, Magazine, Car, Beer, Shoe, Coffee, Shirt, Dress "since" sliced bread. It's simply not true. There was once a reason to call things the greatest thing but in todays world it's just another over used word to somehow, well yes. You guessed it right. Claim to "Be the greatest" and sadly try and make you buy more of "The greatest things". Things you probably don't need. But what does the greatest really mean? What makes something great? Is it how cool it looks? The quality? Style? Fit? I'd say all of those things are important but to make something truly great there simply has to be more. Something great! I mean GREAT! Really cussing GREAT!

At STALYON as much as we'd like to claim that we are the greatest. We're far from it. We do have one simple goal and that is with all of our being truly explore what greatness is with the hope in finding it. Do we have a plan to be great? Yes and for STALYON it starts with our purpose. Our mission as a company, brand and community. A dedication to something that is truly greater than ourselves. Something we believe in. Something we have a burning passion for and guess what, it's not about the hats. The wallets or the bags and accessories we design and make. It's something greater. Despite striving to create the highest quality products in style and fit there is something bigger at stake. Quality of life.

"You can always buy a new hat, a new tent or a new bike...but you can't buy life. You can only give it. That's greatness." -Nathan, founder at STALYON

After Nathan our founder was diagnosed with cancer, it lit a fire in him to do something that was nothing less than epic if he beat it and had a second crack at life. A path in finding greatness. A mission that was inspired by choosing to not forget those who are currently in the fight. A mission that gives to those who are innocent. Kids. After Nathan beat cancer, a new adventure began. A mission to explore greatness and bring an outdoor experience to kids who are currently in the hospital fighting against cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Using business for good, the brand STALYON was created and a calling for those to join the STALYON community. A community of individuals who truly love the great outdoors and want to be a part of something that is truly great. Really cussing GREAT! Something that really matters. So we took things a step further and began a quest in using adventure for good with the hopes of truly empowering the lives of the kids who are currently fighting for survival. So to get back to the start, the topic of greatness and what a hat has to do with it. Well, at STALYON it has everything to do with it. With every STALYON purchase we give towards making a high impact on the lives of the kids we serve. Adventure cards, Outdoor inspired posters (donated by some of the greatest Adventure Photographers in the world), amazing stickers by artist Sam Larson and even coffee for the parents are distributed to the kids we serve. If you've ever seen an epic sunrise just picture that when the kids we serve smile when they're given the gift of adventure. A new adventure that wouldn't be possible without individuals like you. Individuals driven to be a part of something greater than themselves. I think that's were we all find greatness.
